Our History

As the first Chinese speaking church planted in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, BCBC had its opening Sunday service on March 24, 1974. Four people attended included Pastor Mark Tung Lai Hui and Minister Florence Hang Wong Hui. Despite the beginning years of low attendance, Pastor Mark and Florence stayed faithful in God’s calling for them to share the Gospel with the communities in Brooklyn.

The vision has always been simple: To share Jesus’ salvation, introduce people to Jesus, invite them to worship Jesus, and live for Jesus, the God who loves us and gave Himself for us (John 3:16; Gal 2:20). And then to love God and one another as a family in the name of Jesus (Mark 12:30-31). Over the next four decades, that BCBC family has grown both spiritually and numerically. Members are happily carrying out the Gospel of Jesus all over the countries as God leads.  As of 2019, we’ve grown as a spiritual family to around 200 members, and by God’s grace, we’ve begun Mandarin services in the afternoon.

BCBC continues to stand as a testament to God’s faithfulness. He has been faithful and kept us steadfast in obeying Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Please come join us every Sunday and throughout the week as we hear and study God’s Word, worship Him in song, fellowship with one another, and work together in His great commission.
